Welcome to Classical Guitar I at Levels For Guitar.
The goal of Classical Guitar I is to provide each student with the pure fundamentals of Classical Guitar technique and sight-reading. For this reason, it is recommended that you have a classical guitar available for practice. You can follow along with a standard acoustic or electric guitar in the beginning, but you will be missing out on the techniques required to produce the legendary classical guitar tone produced by nylon strings.
It’s not absolutely necessary but recommended for the student to study the first eighteen levels of Beginner Guitar I before starting Classical Guitar I. Beginner Guitar I is designed to get a beginner up to speed with general guitar techniques and theory. Classical Guitar I focuses on the specifics of Classical Guitar technique and sight-reading in the first position. If you have no desire to study Beginner I and want to jump right into Classical Guitar I then that’s okay. I will provide necessary links to content from Beginner I as needed throughout the course.
Before getting started go to Beginner Guitar I Level 001 to learn the open strings on your guitar and how to tune.
